One of the threads of my conversation with Heath l

One of the threads of my conversation with Heath last week was the reality that we can quickly become discontent with the Word of God. It's easy to see the appealing, shiny, exciting new philosophies man creates for dealing with life. They often have echoes of truth, but they are far less superior than the Word of God, and they lead us to dependence on man—whether ourselves or someone else.

The chapter after Paul tells Timothy the purpose of Scripture, he says, "For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths" (2 Tim 4:3-4).

These words are applicable to us today, just as they were when Paul wrote them. The human heart is not naturally drawn to our Creator, but the created, and we need urgent reminders and checks from time to time.

🌳 How do you look to man rather than God's Word? Common areas include
•parenting
•sadness
•friendship
•anxiety
•trauma
•marriage
•finances

🌳 Today is a great day to repent from discontent with God's Word and a higher esteem of man's philosophies and to turn to His Word! As you diligently read the Word, you will learn that the Lord knows our frame and speaks to every area of life.
